Witch Hands

Manos de bruja

Preparing a themed Halloween snack doesn't have to mean loads of sugar. With this "Witch Fingers" recipe, we get a fun, spooky bite that is much healthier. By replacing sugar with Stevia 1:2, we drastically reduce the calorie load without losing the sweetness needed for a good cookie. It's a perfect activity to do with kids, letting them place the almond "nails" themselves.

Estimated time: 35 minutes.

Difficulty: ⭐⭐.

Servings: 4 people.

Number of people and extra details:

This recipe serves 4 people (about 12-16 cookies depending on size). The key to making them look realistic is not to make the fingers too perfect; the irregularities in the dough help simulate skin wrinkles. By using Baking powder , we make sure the cookies have the right consistency without losing their shape in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 200g whole wheat flour.

  • 1 medium egg.

  • 50g light butter (softened).

  • 1 packet (16g) of Baking powder .

  • 12-16 whole raw almonds (for the nails).

Professional Step-by-Step Preparation

1. Making the dough:

In a large bowl, mix the softened butter with Stevia 1:2. Add the egg and beat well. Stir in the whole wheat flour, the pinch of Bonsalt and the packet of Baking powder . Knead with your hands until you get a smooth ball that doesn't stick to your fingers. Let rest in the fridge for 15 minutes.

2. Shaping the fingers:

Take small portions of dough and shape them into finger-sized cylinders. It's important to make them a little thinner than normal, since the Baking powder will make them rise a bit in the oven. Using a knife, make small cuts in the center to mimic knuckles.

3. Adding the nails:

At one end of each cylinder, press a whole almond firmly into place so it stays secure. This will be our witch's "nail".

4. Baking and decorating:

Place the fingers on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake at 180ºC for about 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden. Once cooled, carefully remove the almond, add a little strawberry jam to the hollow, and place the almond back on top so the "blood" shows around the edges.

These witch fingers are the perfect treat for any themed party. Go ahead and make them with your friends and enjoy a terrifyingly healthy Halloween!
