Step-by-Step Procedure

  1. Preparing the aromatics: Wash the basil leaves thoroughly and make sure to dry them well with kitchen paper (moisture is the enemy of oil preservation).

  2. Flavor base: Add the basil, the peeled and chopped ginger, and the olive oil to the blender jar.

  3. Boosting: Add a pinch of Bonsalt 0% Sodium. This will allow the spicy flavor of the ginger and the sweetness of the basil to come through more intensely, without the risks of regular salt.

  4. Emulsifying: Blend everything at medium speed until you get a smooth, deep green mixture. If you want a finer texture, you can strain it through a mesh sieve, although the micro-fibers add a lot of nutritional value.

  5. Storage: Store the result in a clean glass jar.

Chef’s Secrets

  • Color tip: If you want the oil to keep that "emerald" green for longer, blanch the basil for 3 seconds in boiling water and then rinse it in ice water before blending.

  • Creative variation: Add a citrusy touch by dissolving half a teaspoon of our Castelló Lemon Iced Tea in the oil for a Thai-style marinade.
