Oat and Coffee Granita

This slushie combines the intensity of a good espresso with the smoothness and body that oats provide. It is the healthy alternative to commercial frappé coffee, ideal for breakfast or as a pre-workout snack. To achieve the perfect sweetness without calories and balance the coffee’s bitterness without adding sodium, we will use Erythritol Powder and a pinch of  Bonsalt 0%.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of decaf or regular coffee (freshly made and cooled)

  • 200ml of unsweetened oat drink (or 4 tablespoons of ground oat flakes)

  • 3-4 tablespoons of Erythritol Powder

  • A pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract

  • Seasoning: A pinch of  Bonsalt 0%.

Professional Step-by-Step Preparation

  1. Coffee preparation: Brew a strong coffee. It is important that it be strong, as the ice and oats will soften the final flavor a lot. Let it come to room temperature.

  2. Base mix: In the blender cup, combine the coffee, oat drink, vanilla, and Erythritol Powder.

  3. The master touch: Add a pinch of Bonsalt 0%. The potassium in Bonsalt neutralizes part of the coffee’s acidity and bitterness, bringing out the sweet notes of the oats and erythritol in a much more balanced way.

  4. Slushie options:

    • Quick method: Add 2 cups of ice cubes to the blender and blend on high until you get a slushie texture.

    • Traditional method: Pour the mixture into a metal container and place it in the freezer. Stir with a fork every 45 minutes to break up the ice crystals until slushy.

  5. Serving: Serve immediately in tall glasses so it does not lose its snow-like texture.

  6. Presentation: You can garnish with a little sprinkled cinnamon or a few coffee beans on top.
